About us
Ymere is a decisive and innovative housing association that develops, builds and manages homes and other property in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area (AMA).
We manage over 83,800 homes, shops and commercial sites, and builds new homes, for the rental as well as the sales market, making it one of the largest housing associations in The Netherlands.
We believe our social achievements are our main priority. These cannot be expressed in terms of money, but only in a certain quality of life, in social contacts, safety and opportunities for our clients. The money we make by letting houses and the profits we achieve from sales, we reinvest in social housing and community projects.
Our mission is inextricably interwoven with our history. We have been aware of the vital importance of good housing for individual development and growth for over 150 years.
Every day, the more than 1,100 Ymere employees are inspired by this tradition. They feel a strong affinity with our projects, with the sites where we develop our projects and with the people who will live there.
At Ymere we believe that living well involves more than just having a home. We therefore not only provide a place to live - we cater for everything one needs for personal growth and social mobility.
Where we are and what we do
The AMA region, comprising Almere, Amsterdam, Haarlem, Haarlemmermeer and Schiphol Airport, is constantly developing, and is turning into a single metropolis. Ymere plays an active role in this development.
We offer our clients a high-quality service. That is why we received the KWH (Kwaliteitscentrum Woningcorporaties Huursector) quality label. And we contribute to the quality of the housing market by building new homes and improving existing houses.
We also work hard to reduce the shortages on the regional housing market. In 2010, Ymere built more then 1,300 homes for rent and for sale.
Our mission comprises more than providing a high-quality and comfortable home for our clients. Ymere therefore also builds shops and develops commercial sites, car parking facilities and social real estate such as schools, residential care complexes and community centres.
Ymere invests in quality and sustainability and in a clean and safe living environment. We devote a great deal of attention to green open spaces, to the use of water and art, and to appealing, innovative architectural objects that lend an attractive character to residential areas and that boost the quality of public spaces. We work closely with government bodies and local businesses.
We encourage the talent of young people in the areas where we are active: we deliberate with local schools and businesses to create jobs or internships.
